ZINA SUROVA
She was born in 1982 in Sevastopol in the family of Guryev artists, has graduated from Sevastopol School in Fine Arts and MSPU. Resides in Moscow, works as illustrator and also deals with painting and polychrome plastic art.
Member of Moscow Artists' Union teaches at British High Scholl in Design. Intensely participates in exhibition projects and book festivals, teaches master classes for children and adults. Uses the most diverse materials and techniques for illustration: ink, wax crayon, pencils, acryl, oil, clay, wood, collage. Pops-up her books jointly with her husband Filipp Surov. Frequently Zina composes stories for pictured books by herself. Her art pictured book «Shiplet of Love» («Samokat» Publishing House, 2007) became the first in Russia romantic pictured book for juniors.
In 2005 has been awarded with the Honor Diploma for illustration and design of «Prayer Book for Children» at contest «Book Art. Heritage and Searching» with «Illustrated Fiction» nomination (jointly with F. Surov)
In 2006 has been awarded with the Honor Diploma for illustration and design of «Prayer Book for Children» at all-Russia contest «Scarlet Sales» for children and junior creations (jointly with F. Surov)
In 2007 has been awarded with the Honor Diploma for the book «Shiplet of Love» (in conjunction with other pictured books issued by «Samokat» Publishing House) at contest «Book Art. Heritage and Searching» with «Illustrated Fiction» nomination «Junior Book»
In 2008 has been awarded with diploma (jointly with F. Surov) for the book «Of Its Own Accord and in All» by Ch. Nöstlinger Russian at all-Russia book illustration contest «Book Image» with «The Best illustration to Creations for Children and teenagers» nomination
In 2009 the book «Extracts from Correspondence with a Cow» by T. Sobakin has been awarded with diploma at all-Russia book illustration contest «Book Image» with «The Best illustration to Creations for Children and Teenagers» nomination, became a winner at yearly national contest «BOOK OF THE YEAR 2009» with «We are Growing Jointly with Book» nomination (jointly with other books included in series «Patchwork Square») and has been awarded with Diploma contest «Book Art. Heritage and Searching» with «Junior Edition» nomination (jointly with other books included in series «Patchwork Square»)
In 2010 has been awarded with diploma and decoration established by Moscow Artists Union of merit for development in fine arts.
